Burn baby burn!

VBT522452A from BestBuy question?

Postby lost-in-space on Sun Apr 06, 2003 12:41 pm

It said it is a Asus CRW-5224A
Bios 1.0
It said "Flextrlink Activated" while it was burning

The first CD it burned at 52X got a wite error
I though the drive was suppose to know the speed of the
CDR and slow itself down? Set the speed to 40x and reburned ok

Is their a program out their to see the speed of the CDR's?

Its it a LiteOn?

Thanks
Gary

The 1.0 firmware for the ASUS is pretty crappy. I recommend upgrading to 1.20.

http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download ... =CRW-5224A

or

ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/cdrw/5224A/

And no, its not a Lite-On. It's manufactured by ASUS.

Upgraded to 1.20 seems to recognize the speed of the CDR Disk

So how well does it work so far? That's the one branded a Verbatim right? I'm thinking about one of those as well with the MIR it's cheap. Has the firmware solved all your problems?
