Just ordered some and buget (free) shipping takes 14-21 days..

As they say on the Hertz commercial, Ian: "Not Exactly!"

They show you that to induce you to pay for a presumably faster mode of shipping. However, they can't really put it on a 5mph max truck. Furthermore, it doesn't make sense that they hold your order in abeyance for 10 days. I recently ordered the Verbatim CD-RW 24x blanks (per cfitz) and some photo paper (both were free shipping) from Buy.com about 11AM on Wednesday. The paper came from a warehouse in Rialto, CA (that's like I'm going to BuddahTB's house from mine in Huntington Beach but hang a right on the 60 and keep going) and it arrived the following day. The media came from Illinois and arrived the following Tuesday.

I had the same experience with Amazon. A printer, free shipping, came from a warehouse in Nevada in three days. :P

Another note, Ian, regarding your posting of the Fry's ads: I'm sure that some people find it of value even though you can't avail yourself of it. However, I'm out on my driveway at 5AM every Friday for the L A Times and the Orange County Register and I'm at the Fry's section (it comes separately) by 5:03 and I don't see your posting until later in the morning. No matter, I won't buy anything there anyway, right BuddahTB?

And more BuddahTB: As I've mentioned previously, the FV Fry's is but 5mi from my house and halfway to my daughter's. Well, as usual, my steering wheel jerked right at the Euclid exit off the 405 on my way home and then I was out of my Jeep and in the store. But I didn't buy a thing!!!

Frugally yours,

LOL!
I'm not surprised you didn't buy anything. I haven't found any great deals lately at Fry's and haven't been there in atleast a month. Looks like both of us are doing well in terms of not buying from Fry's in awhile. I'm sure one of these days, the ads will make me want to head off to Fry's.

That wasn't the case for me. I ordered the Linksys WET11 (Wireless to Ethernet Bridge for my Xbox) from Buy.com because they were about $35 cheaper than my local Best Buy PLUS I didn't have to pay tax or shipping.

Buy.com waited 5 business days before processing the order when their site showed it in stock when I made my purchase, which leads me to believe they were just taking their time. Once the order shipped, the standard laws of delivery (no UPS/FedEx trucks drive below 55MPH) took over and it was at my house in short order.

In the end, it didn't matter to me that I waited a few extra days..I'm too cheap to spend more if I can wait a few days to secure a bargain 8)

Very interesting! I thought that I had uncovered a new law of business. Well, anyway, a new form of the bait and switch.
