wanted: dell dimension 4400 or 4500 motherboard

i don't know what they use or what the motherboard is really called but a replacement at DELL is only 139.99 but i hope to find it cheaper.

i have the dimension 4400 and of course it went bad and dell told me that they no longer use the DIM. 4400 and replaced them with the DIMENSION 4500.

Doesn't Dell have a support page that lists all the specs for their computer models? I reckon you could visit this page, look up the Dimension 4400/4500, and see which features the motherboard has, then simply buy a third-party motherboard. If you think about it, Dell uses third-party parts anyway, and they usually change third-party brands on a whim. Some Dimension 4400's may have an Asus motherboard while others may have an MSI. So, just throw any mobo in there which meets the original specs of the Dimension 4400/4500. Interchangeable parts, baby! :)
