Watch video on DVD and normal CD

Postby kidd on Wed Aug 04, 2004 11:41 am

Hello:

I have a video which I want to burn on a DVD so people can watch it with their DVD Player.

But I wanted to know if its possible to burn in the same DVD the video in MPEG format so if someone puts the DVD on their computer disc they can watch the video with their video player.

Also which software do you recommend to burn an MPEG to DVD format? And if the idea which I have its possible what software do you recommend to burn it?

Thanks all of you for your time and help.

DVD is in MPEG2. You can play it in PC and standalone DVD players.

You can use TMPG. There are several other MPEG2/DVD encoders. I think you can also use Nero. However, making MPEG to DVD is absolutely pointless because MPEG1 has such low resolution that it'll only make worse .

If the video is MPEG1, just burn them as VCDs. Nero can convert and burn them, and TMPGENC is an excellent freeware to re-encode/do any modifications. Most today's DVD players can play VCDs just fine.

For MPEG2, it's a different story. TMPGENC MPEG2 encoder is not free, and the AC3 plugin (if you want to use AC3 instead of PCM audio) is a seperate buy. If you already have Nero6, use Nero vision express. It can encode, edit and author your videos to DVDs.
