Which USB 2.0 ATA/ATAPI controller chip?

Postby Chris Rankin on Mon Jan 20, 2003 7:49 pm

Hi,

I have a Sony CRXP-90MU USB 2.0 CDRW/CDR/DVD-ROM drive. It's a neat little device with a built-in Memory Stick slot. However, there is not yet a Linux device driver for the USB 2.0 ATA controller chip that this drive uses, and so I am unable to use the Memory Stick. The CD itself seems to work OK; apparently both it and the Memory Stick are standard USB Mass Storage devices and so the missing link in the driver chain is the USB ATA controller.

Does anybody know which ATA controller chip this burner uses, please? Being "CDR Labs", I'm hoping that someone might have investigated the hardware ;-).

For reference, the CRXP-90MU looks superficially VERY similar to the CRX85U/A2, except that it reports 10x CD-RW/24x CD-ROM/8x DVD-ROM, has a Memory Stick slot and has no headphone jack.

Cheers,
Chris
