Who makes these DVD-Rs?

Postby rvnelson on Tue May 27, 2003 10:58 pm

I just bought 50 of the following DVD-R disk from CompUSA:

FMI EP40072G (re-badged CompUSA product number 289893).

They work fine with my TDK 440N dual format drive. I'm just curious as to who is the actually manufacturer. Is it FMI? or Yuden? or some other company?

If no one knows off hand, is there a way to insert a disk and check in a software app?

Thanks.

Here's the link to the product on CompUSA's site: http://www.compusa.com/products/product ... &pfp=srch1

Use CD Speed. Go to Extra --> Disc Info. It should tell you the manufacturer.

The discs are read in dvd info by LD = Lead Data... Bought 4 packs of these the last time compusa had the 10 for $10 deal.... on the first box I went through, 50% of the discs I had errors on...I took the rest of the boxes left, quickly back to compusa for a prompt refund... Crap discs in my opinion.. I just learned that you get exactly what you pay for... Using sonydrx500ulx firmware 2.0e I have had no errors using any other media either - verbatim, ritek, optodisc, maxell, tdk... etc... hope that helps...

I bought 4 boxes of those when they were on sale for 10 bux a box and when I got them they burnt at 2x in my sony. Now a few firmware upgrades later they will only burn at 1x I have never had a failure though and my xbox loves them.
