Why is the Buslink 52x for sure a liteon and the 48x is not?

i suppose, since i work for staples, i could just open the package right there, and look at the front bezel and how the eject, led, stuff is arranged

neat trick!
instead of the bezel, why don't you check the label on the top of the drive?

I bought a Cendyne Lightning V from Staples last week...forgot that the model number was on the back of the box til I got home. Looked and it was a Benq drive so I took it back and asked if they had and LTR's. Nope. Ended up paying more for a Buslink 52x after the sales rep told me he and two friends had bought one each and they were all Lite-On's. Mine was but you never know when they will up and switch on ya. Every review I had read of the Cendyne said it was a Litey.....

It seems that CenDyne often releases their drives as Lite-Ons but then switches them for other drives. This causes nearly all reviews to be about the Lite-On.

BTW, Buslink has been known to do the same thing. Not all Buslinks are Lite-Ons anymore.
