I tried to install the b372 firmware, but I got a message saying:

Can't recognize device

I have a DDW-081 that was upgraded with the Dual B370 to a DDW-082?

What gives?????? :o

I'll do a few quick tests with B372 (if it will upgrade my drive that is - it may be for real DDW-082 drives only). To see if the DVD-R writing bug is fixed.

B372 is also supposed to finally add Mt.Rainier for CD-R/RW. No words on Mt.Rainier for DVD+R/RW though (will check if it supports it).

Yes, Mount Rainier is now fully supported.

and YES, the DVD-R writing bug seems to be fixed now as the written DVD-R discs is now readable in all devices - including in the previously problematic Toshiba drives :D

Man, this drive turned into the sweetest 8x8 drive available at the market now.

OC-Freak did you have any difficulty flashing your drive? What was the OLD FIRMWARE VERSION that you had installed before B372? Was your drive a factory DDW-082 or did you upgrade an DDW-081 to a DDW-082?

Thanks!!

I have a factory DDw-081 loaded with B370, why would I be getting the "Can't recognize drive error" when I try to upgrade to B372???????????

1: make sure it's connected to the IDE controller integrated in the mainboard chipset (usually the southbridge).

2: Make sure you use the M$ IDE drivers and not IDE drivers from some vendors like nvidia etc.

I also got that message if it was connected as USB or to an add-on IDE controller. Connected it as primary master and it flashed ok.

Here is one.....I have to say IMPRESSIVE - considering it's princo.......

First is with firmware B372:

And for comparison here is how it was with B364/B370.......

My Nutech burner is set up as a slave drive, but I don't understand why that should matter........all the other firmware updates were done in the same fashion without me having to do anything to the burner...why should this firmware version be any different? :o

I'm quite puzzled :o :o :o

I have my drive in a USB 2.0 case, and successfully upgraded from BX31 to B372. Burned a DVD-video on CMC 4x rated, it plays fine on one of my players but not the other. Same CMC 4x media burned on my 708A will play on both players. Going to try a TDK DVD-R (TTG01) and see what does.

Found out another thing, setting the booktype to DVD-Rom on DVD-R makes the burned disc identify as "pressed DVD" in DVDinfopro and also made it unplayable in both of my players. Not the result I expected.

Ditto - where is the B372 firmware available?

Additionally - is there a way to figure out what version of the firmware the drive has on it? I just bought a 082 and trying to upgrade it freezes my computer (connected via an external 2.0 enclosure).

Thanks dudes :D

Firmware Problem

Postby s2k on Fri Apr 23, 2004 4:33 pm

Tried to flas a DDW-081 to the B372 firmware today and apparently it failed.

Drive now isn't detected in BIOS or Windows and seems totally dead

Is there anyway to possibly recover this or is it basically junk?

FYI - I actually had it for a little while and ran into some problems - there's a link on cdfreaks.com with it - check out my post to see if you'd want to risk it....

Thanks. Not sure what there is to risk, as I cannot flash my drive at all since BIOS doesn't detect it anyway  So nothing i can even try at this point.

Looks like its RMA ot trash it.
