What time difference? It takes longer at 16x than at 12x!

No one screamed "boo hiss" when BenQ released the 822a as a dual layer burner, which has still yet to receive the firmware upgrade to make it dual layer compatible, despite multiple dual layer drives now being on the market.
It's normal for drive makers to make drives WAY ahead of available media. Look at 32x CD-RWs for goodness sakes!
@Ian:
I've seen funny things like that before too... like DVD+Rs showing up as DVD-ROMs, even though the bitsetting wasn't done... and then later showing up as DVD+Rs by simply opening and closing the tray. It could be a bug or a glitch.
