It was a Liteon 40125S. I just put it in a USB 2.0 enclosure and erased a CDRW with it so I'm hoping it may not be dead after all. I'm going to put it in my wife's computer and hope all goes well. I hate to throw stuff away sice I've never had a component in any of my systems completely die to the point where they were unrecoverable. By the way if you know anyone that has a Liteon LTD-163 that has stopped reading CDs and DVDs, Liteon sent me a firmware that has never been posted that resurrected my buddy's DVD-Rom. It's now working like a charm. I thought it was dead for sure.
