I'm not quite sure. However, I'd imagine that the scaring would definitely jack your hearing. Just ask your doc about the odds of that happening to YOU. Sounds like it would be a rarity.

I just remembered that I had the procedure done...when I was a kid...YEARS ago. I believe that I had plastic tubes. They fell out on their own. My hearing...just fine. I went through many years of being in very loud race cars as well as ridiculously loud music and concerts. My hearing is still very good. It's bad only when I have a chip on the shoulder patient try to rant and rave about stuff.

Glad that you're hearing is doing better! It's always pretty annoying when you're hampered by something you use everyday. I can understand your frustration (as with my patients and rehab), but hopefully your hearing with end up 110%.

i hope! sometimes i wonder about cochlear implants! but i do hope their technology will improve! so far they have improved within the last 10 years from pocket size to behind the ear device. i hope they can get it better.

i just got back from the doctor and have one of the tube removed. now no more echo effect, hearing improved a little, but still not same as before. i wonder if there is still room for improvement, let's say... some more healing is still going to happen??
