Burn baby burn!

Question for Liteon 52246 Owners

About a year or so ago I burned a lot of CDs from MP3 files so I could play them in my non-MP3 player. Then I got side-tracked before I could play them. Now that I have more time, I'm listening to them and most seem to have the same problem:

About 50 to 60 minutes in, a repetitive click occurs, sometimes so loud (or long?) that it renders the CD useless. The click sounds ...

CD Burner Spin Down Noise

This is probably a stupid question, but on my Sony CDRW drive, I notice that sometimes the drive makes a "skidding" type sound when I go to eject the CD - is that just because it needs to spin down first and I'm ejecting it too soon?

How long is a sector?

How long is a sector? Not as easy as it sounds ...
I need the answer with high accuracy and in millimeters.
I've searched many pages and they almost all skip this one detail.
I'm using 650mb/700mb CD-R/CD-RW ...
After many articles, I did find 17.33 millimeters
clearly stated, but that just has to be wrong.
I am currently using 15.974 millimeters, it seems close.
I think it must be between 15.93 and 16.23 ... ...

Has anyone ever used DriveCheck to test CDR drive functional

I had been having trouble with my Sony CD-RW drive recognizing TY CDRs so I called Sony Tech Support and one tech told that they've never had any issues with anything like that before, but another tech told me that Sony drives can get finicky with certain CDRs over time - whatever that means...
They also said I could try running Drive Check (a utility downloaded from Sony) to make sure that everything was functioning ...

My drive has trouble recognizing silver Taiyo Yuden CDRs!

My Sony DVD drive is having trouble recognizing my latest batch of "plain silver" Taiyo Yuden CDRs - has anyone else had any trouble with recent stock?

I tested it with my older silver and gold TY CDRs and my Fuji TY CDRs and there was no problem. It couldn't be the burn because silver TYs that I received in two recent trades also have trouble being read. It usually takes a couple of tries ...

What CD/DVD-writer can read the Leadout area? For example Samsung SH-S182D cannot read Leadout.

What is a three sheep -drive? What CD/DVD-writer is a three sheep -drive?

What drive supports HD-BURN-RW?

writing quality, CD-Rs, diff. burners, advice?

For those that don't know, I just replaced my Lite-On LDW-851S DVD burner with a BenQ DW1655 DVD burner and the BenQ burns DVDs beautifully. Going through posts on this forum, it seems the BenQ might not be the best to burn music on CD-Rs so I decided to run Disc Quality Tests using Nero CD-DVD Speed on a burn of the same music for these two drives plus the LTR-52246S CD burner and see ...

My Sony drive won't read Rhino CDs!

I was just making a couple of new CD compilations and I noticed that about five CDs (all from Rhino) could not be recognized by my Sony DVD-ROM drive. On a few of them, it would get as far as identifying the CD, but it wouldn't rip. I then tried a few other Rhino titles - some were OK and some weren't. The ones that wouldn't read were all manufactured by WEA mfg. I tried ...

TDK veloCD (5200b) problems! (Help!)

So I've had this TDK veloCD model 5200b for quite a while now. I don't use it too often, but it's never failed me before. I recently bought some Imation 52x media for cheap and went to burn something on it. The CD spun up then down then up then down, repeating. It wouldn't burn and I actually couldn't get the drive to eject the disc until I rebooted. I think the drive even has ...
