BUT... I suddenly noticed my CD-ROM was performig very poorly and checked if DMAs were OK. They weren't :(
My CDROM is now "Modo PIO" (PIO Mode)

I have LG crd-8483b CD-ROM ( It is not support DMA I think) with WinME
I can enable (force) DMA however and get good proformance >>
now I cannt do that with Winxp ((( I know how to slove problems with DMA settings with device Manager )))
But ... How to force PIO mode device to use DMA
(can I )((was burn CD in 2:25 min >>> now 7.00 min )) ...

Has anyone reviewed this drive? I did a search on google and couldn't find any.

I have a friend who tried to play a VCD into his SONY PS2 console, but when he inserted the VCD, the disc spun, but no luck what so ever. Yet again he has tried plying DVD's into it and it worked like a charm. He said the PS2 did support DVD, CDROM and VCD media.

Has anyone here ever had this problem with their PS2's.

I have an old LG/Goldstar CRD-CRD8332b, I was wondering if anyone has any links to the latest firmware for it, tried searching on LG's site to no avail...

I think I've got firmware 1.06 on it, but I believe that there is a 1.07 and 1.08 available.

If these firmware's are available will they enable me to overclock to a better model/higher speed?

If so any tips for overclocking this model?

Recently my Samsung CD-ROM SC-152C CS05 is behaving erratically.It reads pressed CD's at blazing speed of about 40x to 48x.But whenever I try inserting a CD-R of any make & quality I face read problems.The same CD-R is read perfectly on the LG CD-Writer,while the CD-ROM gives some errors.The CD-ROM flawlessly reads pressed CD's.
Also can the firmware for this CD-ROM be upgraded?If it can be please post the site information for the flash & ...

I just ran the SFC wizard form the run command in the Start menu and then windows prompted me to insert the Win XP Pro CD in the drive.I did insert the CD in the drive and SFC completed.I then restarted the system and reinstalled SP1.After that when I checked the transfer mode for the CD-ROM,it had changed from DMA to PIO.Due to this I am seeing the performance sluggish.

i have an internal soundcard on a win98se-system . cable in place i cannot hear music from a test-cd, which is ok. nero mediiaplayer starts. isnt there a button in windows?
