News of CD-ROM and DVD-ROM Drives

I had a 163 with a black bezel. I've now upgraded to a 166S to find that the bezel doesn't fit. Liteon changed the bits around a little...does the 165 share the 163 or 166s charactersitics...or is it different again?

I ordered a 166 bezel form my supplier, but it was actually a 163...is the 166S different from the OEM 166??

Anyone know about this?

is the faster a cd rom spins the better it reads cd's??... is the faster the cdrom the better it reads scatched cd's?
(please tell me this isn't a dumb question)

Hey guys if someone could tell me what could be the reason that my cdrom does not read any cds. All it says is please insert disk into drive E:\
But there is already a disk in there :(
I think it has gone like this from a firmware update I did for my cd-burner which has probably effected the function of my cd-rom.

what do you all mean the cd's will shatter or brake in a 52x or greater drive i had a 56x in my other computer and i neva had a broken disc..
and also how do they brake in the drive? :o :( :) ...

I'm using Win XP Pro SP1 at the moment and have realised there's a problem with my Asus 52x CD-ROM.

I've noticed a large decrease in speed from the Asus drive recently, although I'm not sure if it's connected with the installation of Service Pack 1 or not.

Using Nero Infotool it tells me that the Asus doesn't have DMA enabled.
I have an LG 8204B as master and the Asus as slave on ...

Anyone know what is the top of the line internal CD-ROM drive?
Was it Afreey? I noticed they didn't include Asus 52x CD-rom drive in the CD-rom roundup or probably there are several others missing so wondering if anyone got any clue on what the best one is?

Any one know where I can get new firmware for my Afreey 52x CD-ROM?
