News of DVD Writers

Hi,

Could i have a little help on the above item please,
i have a couple of questions.

1 - Once i have installed the dvd burner & connected to my m/b
do i have to install drivers. On my m/b driver disc there are
sata/raid drivers , or will win xp detect automatically.

2 - Do i need to enable sata in the bios.

I USE NERO 8 ... & EVERY TIME I TRY TO BURN MP3 OR AVI,

IT STARTS TO BURN BUT STOPS & SAYS BURN PROCESS FAILED..

POWER CALIBRATION... OR PLEASE YOU DIFFERENT MEDIA ...!!!

IT NEVER DID THIS BEFORE...!!!!

I HAVE A MASHITA DVD BURNER MODEL UJ - 482D

AS FOR THE MEDIA I HAVE USED DVD + R/RW & DVD - R/RW

EVEN DUAL LAYER OF BOTH FORMATS...

YET I STILL GET THIS ...

I will be building a new rig and will finally upgrade to a newer DVD writer. Looking at Samsung drives, but see two model numbers 203B & 203N. What are the differences between these drives?

I've also noticed BEBN and BEBE designations on some of the drives listed at Newegg as well. What do these refer to?

I've been looking for a DVD writer that could read 8 cm DVD-RAMs. I have searched the product descriptions from all major manufacturers but hardly anyone mentions 8 cm media at all. Plextor is the only one I have found that mentions it explicitly and it seems only their BlueRay drives support 8 cm. That's overkill for my purposes. I need firmware forPioneer DVR-K16A (ware revision 1.63), i wasn't able to find anything - you can find for 16, 16ra and ctr but not for this one.
