I have been waiting for a truly awsome DVD Burner to use as a back-up appliance on a three PC Peer-to-Peer network, Windows 2000 & Windows XP Pro. (As well as for other DVD applications.)

Can I successfully use the DRU-500 as a shared drive on the network and use it as a system back-up device using Stomp "BackUp My PC"?

How do folks here have the DRU500A hooked up to their PCs, in terms of the audio cable? Are you using one? Is it even needed? If so, are you using an Analog or Digital cable? And are you using it alone, or with other CD/DVD drives?

Apparently the pin on the Dru500A that is generally used to connect a digital cable to the sound card (like I am currently doing with my Sony CRX195A) ...

I just bought put together a new system on a Gigabyte GA-7VAXP mainboard with a Toshiba SD-M1612 DVD-Rom drive (rev. B according to the firmware page).

After reading about its EXCELLENT DVD-data and movie speeds, I'm rather dumbfounded.

With DVD-Decrypter, and a store-bought DVD movie, it's reporting it'll take 27 minutes to rip a DVD unlike the 4 or 5 it did with my Liteon LTD-163.

With DVDSpeed, it starts of around 2.0x and makes ...

Has anyone tried to use DVD-R discs from Intenso and Lead Data with Sony's DRU500A drive?

Can anyone with what reading features the Liteon 166S drive supports for EAC (Exact Audio Copy).

I am curious whether the drive caches audio data, supports accurate stream, and is capable of retrieving C2 error information.

If anyone has used this drive with EAC, can you post you results/opinions of it.
