A Second cd writer OR a dvd drive

I already have a LTR/48125W. I want to replace my ageing Acer 50x cd rom drive. I am planning to go for a second cd writer(LG 48x). Should I instead go for a dvd rom drive like LTR 166s ?

Thanks.....

New Firmware For TDK 48x24x48 (4800B)

I was just browsing through TDK's website and happened to come across a new firmware for the TDK VeloCD 48x24x48 Internal CD-RW Drive. The previous firmware was S7S5, while the newest version is S7S8. TDK claims this firmware upgrade will offer improved compatibility with a variety of recordable media.

You can look at it here

DVD Media: -R/RW vs +R/RW

I'm getting close to jumping for my first DVD burner. I've looked through this forum and others, gone through explanations of what each of the formats are and I'm still confused about one thing:

My primary reason for going to DVD is to archive many, many large data files. I'll probably also use it to back up full partitions from my h/d's. I only use VHS to tape broadcast and cable programs that I don't ...

Binary and cue files

I have a Binary and a Cue file which I am trying to burn to VCD or SVCD.
They both belong together but I don`t know in which format to burn it down in so that my DVD can read it. :-? At the moment under ISO burn the DVD is only reading MP3 and thats it! The vcd method is not recognising MPEG1 format, however, it ...

Question Regarding Nero CD Speed Disc Info

I'm just curious if the Recording Speed field on the Disc Info screen is supposed to exhibit the maximum recording speed of whatever medium I have loaded into the selected drive. I thought this did this when I first loaded Nero, but every time I go into the screen now I just get an "n/a" in this field. I've heard that others have experienced the same thing, but I'm wondering if its supposed to work ...

Nero InfoTool bug Regarding Read Speeds

I noticed that when I put a blank cd-r or no media at all in my Liteon 52246S drive and then went into InfoTool, the Drive tab for my Liteon in InfoTool was only showing read speeds of 12X, 8X and 4X. All of the other speeds up to 52X were gone. I found that if I put in an audio cd or cd-r, the same read speeds were shown (only up to 12x). I ...
