Sony 16x DVD+R Media Now Made By Ritek!?

I've been a big fan of Sony's DVD+R and DVD-R media for years and use it for a lot of my personal stuff. I picked up a spindle of their DVD+R discs at Best Buy today and was surprised that the MID was RITEK F16.

Sigh.. It's getting harder and harder to get good recordable media. Everyone seems to be using Ritek or CMC and the quality varies so much from spindle to spindle that ...

why do they smell so bad? WTF?

Just bought some new CD-Rs for general use and they smell really bad almost like opening up a paint can or something. I don't remember my old Taiyo Yuden CD-Rs smelling this bad. What gives? Is it really necessary? Any chance the smell will dissipate a lot if I leave them open in the house or will it just stink up the house? Thank you.

DL and LightScribe

Is there any DVD±R DL media with LightScribe?

I haven't seen any at either Memorex's own website, or from any brand at Newegg. Is there some kind of technical limitation, like there's not enough room in the disc for two recordable layers on one side and the LightScribe layer on the other side, or what?

CMC to Showcase 20x DVD+R and DVD-R Media At Computex

The Computex website has some of the new products CMC will be showcasing at Computex 2010. Along with 16x DVD+R DL and 12x DVD-R DL discs, the company will have 20x DVD+R and DVD-R media. I apologize for the quality of these pictures. They look this bad on the Computex website too. #-o

Fuji Ritek CDRs Made In Taiwan

For the last few years, I've been using TY Made in Japan CDRs (first Fuji, then SONY Walkman and now Maxell Music TYs). With the last pack of Maxell Music TYs that I bought at my local Rite Aid, I haven't gotten any C2 errors at all, but I noticed that I get about an avg. of about 2.50-3.00 C1 errors, where the maximum is sometimes in the 20's and in some cases, in the ...

Ritek, on January 22, announced that it has signed an MOU with fellow Taiwan-based Daxon to purchase the latter's optical disc manufacturing equipment at a total price of up to NT$500 million (US$15.6 million).

The equipment will be mainly used to increase its production of Blu-ray ...

ptpublisher colors

We have a 3 year old Primera Bravo ll. For approximately 6 months we have had problems with colors; washed out, weak, etc. We changed color and black cartridges, but the problem returned soon after. At this time the readout shows 45% black, 87% color, but print on DVD comes out with everything a very weak red.

Problem Burning CDRs

I’m having a problem burning CDRs with my NEC 1300A (IDE), which is five years old. I also have another computer with an Optiarc 7200, but I would like to figure out why I’m having a problem doing CDRs on the older computer, which I still use.

For the first five years, I had no problems, but now, most of the times when I insert a blank CDR into the NEC, I get nothing at ...
