My wife is a teacher, so she's usually more concerned about what her students see on the web versus what I'm looking at. I'll ask her tonite and see what she has to say.

Yeah, CDRecorder and I still need to work out the details for some of the forum rules. As you can see, I'm a little more lax when it comes to the female body.

all of this colorful discussion aside, did you Ian or any other mod/admin for that matter receive any actual complaints from anyone?

it seems to me that the rules are just fine.
it's a matter of personal taste/opinion as to what is appropriate or offensive, and what is not.

as i see it, it's your site so it's your opinion that matters.

also, if i may point out, the only person who clearly is a female was not offened by any of this, just the opposite. :D

just after you're scolded for that "tonite" by your teacher wife  , i'm interested in what she had to say too.
my wife was curious about the pics too.
she wasn't bothered by them at all.
if things were my wife's way, there'd me many more pics of "scantily clad girls" LOL

Ian uses a dialect we've coined "Milwaukee English". At least that's where we think he got it. Either that or 10 years on IRC.

I hate to admit it, but its longer than that. Most of my students use IM and have no idea what IRC is. The ones that do, think its old technology, like DOS.

I didn't really get any complaints. However, I did get a few emails asking me what was up with all the girls in peoples' avatars and signatures.

btw.. I now use Madison English. It's a mix of Engrish, east coaster (New York, Boston, etc) and red neck.

It has to be a Wisconsin thing. I used to spell "tonight" the same way.

For me, work is also in the education field. Wouldn't do for people to believe one of the IT guys is looking at the very things he filters from students and staff on the network, eh?

P.S. I miss the way IRC used to be (circa `96-97).

I consider the previous Ruderacer's avatar a bad taste, but doesn't bother me at all.

Did you use telnet/unix program to enter the IRC or a Win prog?

I chated on BBS before IRC.

I think that is the name of it. My friends from here fly into Mpls and rent a car. So it is probably close to it.

French settlers labeled a branch of the northern Wisconsin tribe Ojibwe as "short ears" or "court oreilles". The lake nearby took the same name. Ironically, the name of the town in the area is actually Couderay, a rough phonetic pronounciation of the french word.

I've been there, and currently live about 2 hours south of that town.

On a related topic, I just got a complaint about the quote in my signature. No, surprisingly it wasn't the one about Bush.
