Power Calibration Error Madness

Postby ruler on Tue Oct 05, 2004 12:06 pm

hey guys..

i got a pioneer 106d 4x burner like one year ago. right when it got here, i patched it with the "v1.07 rpc1-12xrip" firmware from rpc1.org.

the drive rules. most of the burns i do are perfectly readable, and it's great to rip stuff too.

only problem is, every now and then i have a goddamn "power calibration error" in nero.. and it's beginning to happen far too often.

it ALWAYS happens in the beginning of the burning process - if it reaches 2%, then it'll burn right till the end 100% of the times. i always burn at 4x with ritek or ridata-branded ritek 4x media, and i'm using one of the very latest nero versions (it happened with previous versions too)...

what could be causing this, can anyone please help? cache'ing of files, perhaps? the hugest problem is, sometimes, the power calibration error actually occurs right after burning begins, so it renders my dvd-r unusuable... :(

You say you always use Ritek, have you tried any other brands just to see if this error is consistent? It's possible you have a bad batch of Ritek media..

yeah, i've been able to reproduce the problem with other media, so i assume it's not that..

i also once noticed that trying to burn 6 700 mb files off a completely full hd would give me power calibration error no matter how many times i tried. once i freed some space, it worked promptly...

so that's why i have reason to suspect this might be happening due to some cacheing problem or something.

I have proplem with my CD/DVD+RW drive (Sony). When I have written DVD +RW Philips (data, media…) with Nero 5.5,that’s very good. But now, I couldn’t write the same DVD + RW Philips because “power cabliration error”. I re-installed driver DVD, flash new firmware, re-install WinXP but even I can’t write. My problem is only with DVD. For CD, it’s good.

And the last, I did clean my laser lense but I can’t write.

What I have to do, now?????????

Sorry about my English if I have fault

Turn down your burn speed a notch. The power calibration error would occur anymore.

Well got the same drive over here and the ony disc's it gave me such errors and others are RITEK's own stuff (G04 and specially R01)
With TY,CMC,MKM/MCC,BEALL,RICOH I never had these problems.
So maybe get some better media. (TY I recommend.)

Before when I was "power cabliration error". I installed a software management power battery, but after I removed this software, I think this software was set option power of notebook. But I don't know How I re-set this option ????
