rebates / companies to stay away from

Got a hot deal you want to share? Need one?

Postby BuddhaTB on Sun Jan 02, 2005 6:35 pm

Dunno if anyone else has dealt with Seagate rebates but my experience has been very slow. I sent in the rebate in September and still have not received my $50 rebate check yet. I already received an e-mail confirmation at the end of September stating my rebate was approved.

I'll be calling them on Monday to see what's up with my rebate check.

I've had three or four rebates with Seagate and all were paid. I don't keep a written record after receiving the funds but from memory it took ten to twelve weeks.

Good luck

I've never heard of a Plextor rebate. Hopefully if you have experience down the road you can let us know.

For now, I have stopped buying products with rebates. I much prefer to pay a discounted price than doing all the work associated with rebates.

I hate having to pay an inflated price, then submitting multiple rebates, which entails filling out the info, scanning all the docs/receipts, preparing all the envelopes, pay for mail/tracking, and then waiting endlessly for rebates.

My friends all are now staying away from rebates.

The only one I might consider is Staples, which has online rebates.

I had a Plextor rebate about 4 years ago for thier Plexwriter 24/10/40a, but I think Best Buy handled that rebate.

Another company to watch out for Fry's - I've been waiting two months for a $6 rebate for a pack of GQ Great Quality 4X DVD's.

BenQ/CPG (rebatestatus.com), beware! I'm still waiting on a $30 rebate for this 17" LCD monitor I got last Black Friday for $205 before 2 rebates ($145 after rebates), 3 months and counting now since they received my submission...

How else do you think Ritek can stay in business. They're scumbags through and through.

Try this number- 888-259-8722. I just tried it at 5:40 eastern time and someone picked up the phone.

Good luck!

Sorry for the late reply. Anyway, many thanks for that url. I e-mailed them and they assured me that the check would be mailed by the end of the week. To my surprise, I got my rebate check in the mail one week after they replied to my e-mail. Weird, but I'm happy now. Now what to do with this $50? :)

You're welcome, glad you got your money.

Regarding what to do with the fifty, you did miss my birthday
