Windata 8x DVD-Rs?

Postby bix on Sat May 28, 2005 1:25 am

Just curious since Micro Center has these on sale...

VideoHelp.com's media list has a listing for 4x discs as TYG01. Any idea how the 8x are and if they're legit TY?

Thanks,
-David

Price?

It might just be Taiyo Yuden's Value Line media. They've had problems with crazy brands popping up selling the media as 8x even though it's 4x rated (with an 8x code).

I know that the real TY have serial-numbers like TG001158 on the undersite.

Burners don´t know if you insert real TY and they will burn the fakes with the same speed like Faked TY´s because of the same media-code.

Maybe the media-expert Dolph can clarify whether it´s real Taiyo or fakes.

I tried the +r's at 16x and about half way through the movie it locks up and skips. Once you get past that it plays fine to the end. When burning it gets to 14x then drops to 8x then goes up to 10x. They may do fine at 12x but I'm not sure. I doubt I'll get anymore.

Could you please post the serial number(s), and also (for the third time in this thread) please tell us what the price of the media was?

Maximus, or me? I use an 812S@832S, and I have a new 1640 waiting for me back home, which I can't use till July, as I'm in Delhi for my summer internship.

Hello!

The NEC 3500 can burn original TY T02 without problems @16x, how it performs with Infosmart I don´t know.

The Liteon seems to be not good with low quality disc I heard from a friend. Do you burn some Infosmart with it?
