Earl, you have it connected to the onboard IDE controller, right? Do you have it set right in the BIOS (auto detect or cdrom)?

The freaking pig demands to be the Master> Crap! Oh well!
Now when I try to flash it with 1.50 it says no disk in drive, when I put a disk in the drive it says eject it. What the he**.

Ian, My bios does not have that selection, only the drive on or off and no IDE bios settings. I am now in umda 4 for the pio and mode 2 for the 3530. I had to set the pio as master.

Normally, there's an option to manually set what kind of device it is (HDD, CDROM), let it autodetect or disable it. The reason I bring this up is that I had a similar problem with a 3520A at work. BIOS detected it as UDMA 66, but Windows only used PIO. I finally went into the BIOS and set it to CDROM. Worked fine after that.

I flashed a pio 109D for a mate and i connected it to primary ide as master. and clicked on the yellow exe thingo and it detected it immediatly. If you have raid that you can turn off then try that. I once tried flashing my A08 on a machine with raid and it wouldnt flash. So i swapped it to another box that didnt have raid and then it flashed no probs

I will move it to my other box Fri! It will not flash in this box! My other box is a raid. Oh Well! So much for a buffalo flash. I can't even get a real pio flash.
IAN !! My Dells have an on or off for the drives. Off means drive disconnected. So I tried all the stuff above before making the pio master.
I need to flash the sucker to remove rip lock. But before I hose it totally I will try the burn speed.

Mystery Man

And I clicked on the yellow thingy for flash and it says insert a disk or remove one(continuous loop).
Strange. I guess UMDA 4 is only on master????

Actually, the computer I had problems with was a Dell. GX270 to be exact.

OK! Its time to play! Always keep my BIOS current. IAN! I think the 270 has two IDE ports. My 8400s have only one IDE port and obviously only the master supports umda4. Oh Well!
Might need too invest in a PCI card or a SATA to IDE adapter.
Boy my 3530 hates being the slave. I guess anyone would!
Very primative limited settings in the bios.

Pioneer said to do a boot disk and flash it that way. Not! No way! That is like the dark ages from the ghosts of Christmas past!

OK! I did the dvr update with the same kernal in both boxes.(factory pio update did not work at all) Directions were very skimpy(that is being kind). It is now a speed demon with 109 140 FW from the A09 file at the links that were given on this forum. So far it works.
See transfer rate below!
Now should I flash to 150 A09 or leave it the f### alone?

PS/ my 3530 is slow now that it is a slave. Bad! I guess I need a PCI card or a SATA to IDE adapter!

PS! Thanks for the help! CDFREAKS had some links I used but the directions sucked to say the least.

IAN! I guess you get what you pay for. I got a great price on the 8400s from Dell and they are fast. But the mobo is bare bones. I guess we are supposed to buy SATA DVD burners.

PS#2 109OEM is a steal at $48 shipped. Jump on it at that price if you see it again!

Download the 109v1.50 firmware from http://www.pioneer-eur.com/eur/download ... W150EU.EXE

Extract the files and delete the Pioneer upgrade (UPGR109.exe). You will be left with 2 files, R9100009.150 & R9100109.150.

Download DVRupdate 0.9 from
http://www.dvd-recordable.org/wwwimgs/m ... 20v0.9.zip

Extract DVRupdate 0.9.exe to the same folder as the 2 files above.

Run DVRupdate 0.9 and do the following:
1) Select your drive from the 'Device' drop down box
2) Select the Kernel file by clicking the folder icon to the right of the 'Kernel' field. The correct file will automatically be selected if you have run DVRupdate from the same folder as the R9100009.150 & R9100109.150 files.
3) Select the Normal file by clicking the folder icon to the right of the 'Normal' field. The correct file will automatically be selected if you have run DVRupdate from the same folder as the R9100009.150 & R9100109.150 files.
4) Click 'Start'
The operation takes about a minute. Exit DVRupdate.

Reboot.

Ian, I tried in in the box first and nothing happened! So I tapped it and talked to it but it would not go! So I thought I would plug it up and see what happens!
