Acro Circle (Optodisc) tests to come

Postby wicked1 on Mon Aug 08, 2005 5:21 pm

Has anyone else been using this media much and what have your results been? I bought it because dolphinius_rex was pimping it out so I bought 100 of the 8X DVD-R. I am going to burn alot later tonight and scan them in all my burners to see what they look like. My NEC 3540 just took 8:45 to create a data disc with nero that seems a little slow to me but scans of it will come later tonight. I have to backup one of my 250 gb hard drives to reformat it to ext2 instead of the ntfs tthat it is. All drives going ext2 except my 8 gig ex-xbox hard drive that windows runs on with nero as the only app in it. Anyway back on topic what do you think of this media?

Hrm... not quite as good as I would have expected for the NEC or the BenQ DW1640. Better then I expected on the LiteON! :o

All disks (maybe it was just the same) were burned on the NEC.

Their DVDR's are pretty much garbage on my PX-716A, the DVDRW's actually work well though.

The 16x DVDRs work really well on the PX-716a according to Ian's testing. Haven't had a chance to try them myself yet on that drive though.

Those scans were of the same disc burnt on my NEC 3540. I am burning a disc right now on my BenQ 1640 to scan but I cant get the optorites to burn higher than 4X in it even though the write strategy is there for 8X? I dont understand that. I have tried burning in DVD DEcrypter and Nero. Both at 8X never go above 4X. One Optodisc I put in only let me choose 4X in Nero so I put in another from the same spindle and it let me choose 8X but still burnt at 4X. Any ideas? I'll post the scans in a little bit of the so caqlled 8X but really 4X burns.

That's very odd... I've had TYG02 code media from Optodisc pushed back to 4x... but it's been a long time since I've seen that as a real problem for OPTODISCR008.

BENQ 1640 BSJB OptodiscR08 8X BenQ scan(not full)

Here is the one that recode burnt at 8X but it isnt full. I am still trying to get a 8X burn with my 1640. It seems as though it doesnt like these discs. My other drives do fine though.I have made 5 coasters so far with the BenQ.
