Only reason I can think of is something wrong with power supply. Does it always stop at the same percent of burn or after same amount of time or periodically?

Fix a power supply problem? Get a new one. They aren't that expensive for the normal PC...
Have you been having problems with other peripherals on the PC too?

Try copying a full CD onto a hard drive with that drive and see if it stops in the middle of it or copies it completely.

When was the last time this burner worked properly on your system? If it worked fine before, what were the last software and hardware changes you did to the system? Isn't this a really old burner? Might even be it's coming to the end of its life.

Check if DMA is enabled on the drive. You can find the instructions for that in the FAQ section of these forums. If DMA is enabled, switch to PIO Mode and see if you still get same results. If PIO Mode is enabled, then switch the drive to DMA and then give it a try. I really am at a loss about your problem and can't think about anything else. Did you try different media? You already mentioned different software, so I'm just :-? Sorry can't think of anything else, I'll let some other members share their knowledge
