Crazy Problem with CD ReWriter Please Help

Postby The_Gibbon on Wed May 28, 2003 4:58 pm

Maybe the solution is obvious to some of you people but I have a crazy problem with my LG CD-RW (GCE-8240B). I use Ahead Nero for burning and have the 1.7 firmware for the drive. But I have also tried Roxio and Ashampoo Burnya and got the same problem.

I can write a data CD with no problem (i.e. mp3's or word documents etc). but when i try to create an 'Audio CD' the software begins the burn process, then immediately stops, claiming that 'The burn process has failed'.

I would love to be able to create CD's for listening to on a home stereo and yet my LG writer will not make them.

Please, any suggestions would be great!
PS If you need any more information about my computer or drivers etc. just ask.

I have also tried RealOne Player's burn facility, that didn't work either.

If you are recording the audio cd from mp3 files, try first converting the mp3's to wavs using something like CDex (Freeware).

Like the proverbial nocturnal mass-murderer; I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and say that the file format is not the problem...

I say this because I took your advice and .wav formats made no difference whatsoever. Thanks for the help, it might have worked.

So then, I'm still open to suggestions.

What version of Nero are you using? How exactly are you creating an audio CD? Go through the steps please including which files you add to the burn list, etc.
No, I like women.

I think I may have solved the problem just by messing around.

I was staring at the files before trying to make another disc, when I noticed some of the filenames were very long / contained irregular characters. I remembered that Windows generally isn't into that sort of thing, so I thought that maybe the CD writer was the same case.

I went through and renamed all of the tracks to short, single word filenames and lo-and-behold; it all worked.

Sorry for troubling you busy and important people, you can now move on and solve other problems. But I warn you, I shall return should I find more problems.
