hrm... do I buy an Apple G5, or a Quad-Xeon P4 for the same $$?

:(

I'd love to own a mac, but the Apple tax is too steep.

After I get my new burner to replace that old Aopen (I'll get a Lite-On 52x of some sort) I'll start saving up for the PowerMac G5.

Just out of curiosity... what advantage do you see in Macs over PCs? No offense to all of the Mac users out there, of course.

Why go Intel when you can go 64 with the Opteron.

notice how the benchmarks on that site compare G5 to intel... and not AMD....

The benchmarks also don't show if they used SSE2.. seeing as how the p4 has a much weaker FPU compared to athlon (and needs SSE2 to make up for it) it'd be pretty nice to know what's really going on in those benches.

also, isn't the powerPC g54 going to be released in august?

LOL the "flame wars" we have going on here at CDRLabs occasionally are but puny candle-flames, compared with the infernos those guys are having over there

I know that that whole article is a bunch of crap. You can also tell by this part towards the bottom.

Both Apple and Dell are guilty of using misleading prices. For example, Apple gives the price of the low-end G5 as "$1999", and the high-end G5 as "$2999". In other words, they have subtracted $1 from a $3000 computer to make it seem cheaper, which is absolutely ridiculous. This demonstrates that both Apple and Dell are willing to mislead people when stating their prices.

Whoever wrote this is obviously a moron because if he had any fuc*ing brains, he would know that everyone make it $1,999 or $29.99. To make it sound cheaper.

It didn't take apple long to defend it's benchmarks.

I wish they used AMD also on their comparison.
