I-O Data Japan has announced a new series of drives based on LG's 8x Blu-ray Disc writer, the BH08N. The internal BRD-SH8B and external BRD-UH8 feature 8x BD-R, 8x BD-R DL, 2.3x BD-RE and 2x BD-RE DL writing speeds and a maximum BD-ROM read speed of 8x. Here are some of the specs:

The BRD-SH8B and BRD-UH8 will ship in mid to late-October and are priced at 39,100 Yen ($370US) and 42,300 Yen ($400US), respectively. More information on both drives can be found here.
