Postby tuxedomoon on Sun Feb 29, 2004 6:58 am

Oke possible?

flash upgrade from 362 to 364 won't work well, zo the best is to do it from 031 or the older 030 pro one to this latest 364.

Strange when you all mentioned cd burning sucks i started straight away burning cd's, no probs. use Platinum and Liftec cd and Philips RW.

copy onfly all kind off work good here

Iám sorry but on my NU DDW-082 f/w 364 the PLATINUM 52x speed works :) Even audio extraction mp3 and backwards to cd audio burn at 26 speed ok. Yess iám zo happy as a little kid with his toy, believe me before this, it was terible and i throw a way many dvd and cd failures.

Dual Layer

Postby gregdep on Thu Mar 04, 2004 7:07 pm

The US sales representative emailed me stating that the "dual layer" firmware for the ddw-081 will be coming out in the very near future, and that she will be getting back with me once an ETA (for the firmware release) is confirmed. :D

DVD9 firmware upgrade!! That's what I like to see instead of dual format upgrade. I gave up on writing DVD-R. Its a nice to have this additional feature but what's the point when you can burn @8x and get great quality for DVD+R?

I emailed one of my contacts at Nu-Tech USA and like gregdep said, they are planning on adding this feature.

I have checked with NU Korea about this info and is false. Whoever told u this is leading you up the garden path. The burner will be a whole new burner with different hardware and faster speeds.

cheers

I can echo that here Nic. Nu have not made any official statement nor have they told me when I Q'ed them about a potential dual layer firmware upgrade.

Uhhhh....its not like - an early april fools joke I hope! As this was mean indeed....DVD9 would have been nice.

maybe they will have both... a new burner, and a firmware upgrade for other drives....

i guess time will tell :)

OK, I got another email from Nu Tech. This time it was from one of their engineers. According to him, they might support DVD+R9 in their next
generation drive, but not the DDW-061 or DDW-081. Ciryadin, can you verify this?

Dual-Layer will not be supported in DDW-061/081 (might change but no info that this will happen)

nu drive and ps2 dvd

Postby kable on Thu Mar 18, 2004 4:59 pm

I have a DDW-081 and when i put in a PS2 dvd it hangs the drive, it ties up the bus and slows the computer. The only way to eject the disk is to reboot the computer.

The drive has the new firmware pre installed at the factory.

I am not very happy because thats the main reason i purchased the burner.

Is this problem unique to this drive in general, or is it the firmware? I emailed NU and the guy said to try to revert to older single format firmware. I dont want to do this unless I know that the PS2 disks will work with the drive.

Has anyone else put in PS2 disks and if so, what was your success / or lack there of?

I have sucessfully copied a few PS2 games on the plus firmware. Haven't tried the dual firmware though.

What discs are you using?

Stick to god quality DVD+R, not DVD-R as they are not yet written correctly with this drive.
