News of CD-R/CD-RW Drives

When updating my CDRW firmware should i update it to the latest version or should i go up with the versions (1->2->3->4 etc.)?
Are new improvements implemented in the existed firmware and called by a new name or is a totaly new file?

I know the answer seems obvious but anyway..

Has anyone used these? What is the quality? I want to know more about these discs.

I recently bought a spindle of 100 CDs for £15 and found them excellent. They are the cheapest discs I have seen in a shop. They are released under the name 'Infiniti' and on the box it says write speed x48. I tested them on x40 on my USB2 LiteOn and seem to be doing very well.

I can't find anyplace locally to get a Liteon 48x24x48. Can anybody recommend a store or even a place online (USA). Also why are some listed as "retail" and some "oem"? Thanks

when i connected the new drive, the new cdrw has ruined all the blank cds i tried to write on, i sent it to the lab but they burned with no problems,
coming back home , i tried to connect it as a master on ide2 and left only one hd as master on the first ide - then it worked ...

Does anyone have a clue when the Samsung SW-252B will actually hit the market? I'm thinking of replacing my Plextor 8432 and I like what I've read about the Samsung, although the 52x LG isn't half bad either and its available now.

I've decided it's time to retire the old 8x4x32. She's served me well, but her destiny lies with my old system, not my new one. But which 52x burner to buy? it's between Lite-On, LG and MSI. Any thoughts?
