News of CD-R/CD-RW Drives

I purchased the Yamaha CRW2200 CD-RW quite some time ago now, and have been successfully using it without the SCSI converter (ie. in EIDE mode) without any issues.

I've decided to use it in SCSI mode, to overcome the issue of potential buffer underruns when copying directly from an IDE CD-ROM drive (which used to be on the same IDE channel).

Hi. I have a CRX-810E CD-RW/DVD drive and I would really appreciate any help on backing up its current firmware and flashing it on an identical drive, as to kind of "upgrade" the firmware by using a computer that has 1.5a on another identical which unfortunately has 1.0c.

I just bought a new burner and it burns cds too slow. It's an LG GCE-8481B 48x24x48x. Everytime I burn a cd, it burns between 6x and 8x even though i set it for 48x. Someone help, I'm completely puzzled!!

Just bought a 52x24x52 at OM. Read the Verbatims were rebadged Lite-Ons. Serial is all numbers and the part # is VBT522452A. Also can it be reflashed to a Lite-On? any help would be appreciated.

Here is my question. Is there any way to figure out what my dvd and cd-rw drives can play?? I mean if my DVD drive can play DVD-R or DVD+R etc. Is there any program or software for this to check out ?

I'd like to take advantage of the speed of my new Lite-On 48246S. Unfortunately it (and my Pioneer DVD-ROM drive) is recognized as a SCSI drive, as was the Artec 24X CD-R that it replaced. Therefore, I get no options to make sure that it's operating in DMA as opposed to PIO mode.

Hi and happy new year to everybody here. Ok, now with my Nero software I've also got InCD with it as well. I am slightly confused on what InCD really is and whats is its purpose. Is it only used for CD-RW media or can it also be used for CD-R media as well. Does it also act like a big floppy drive etc etc.
