News of CD-R/CD-RW Drives

Has anyone had problems with this laptop burner?

I have 700 Mb Verbatim 16x-24x Ultra-Speed CD-RW discs that makes me wonder if it is possible to use a lower recording speed with those discs than the speeds of 16x and 24x?
Say, 8x speed would be nice for me, can I use that speed in some way (with some program?) when I want to record to my Verbatim CD-RWs?

The programs that I use when I want to burn to one of those ...

ok. i start up my comp this morning. it loads up then straight away some clone dvd thing says that my device drivers are corrupted and must be unistalled. so i press ok. then i go to my comp and i cant see any of my writers and roms. i go to device manager and it has a list ...

lol...I can't find any info on this drive in a language other than Korean cuz it's so new.

The computer store shiped me this drive because I ordered a GCC-4520B and for some reason this slightly better drive was mislabelled.

Guess I have to wait a month or 2 for it to become more established in the market. :(

I know this has been discussed in the past, but can someone point me to an in-depth discussion (comprehensive web page) regarding the dyes and other materials that go into the manufacture of blank CD discs, especially one that provides examples (i.e., names of mfrs./discs)., AND how these different types relate to the stability of the recorded information?

I recently read that discs with the common greenish-bluish hue aren't very good. I happened to casually ...

I just picked up the LiteOn-52327s today, it's my first LiteOn experience as I was a long time LG fan. I did some reading test on it and the results were really bad, I wonder if anyone else has the same problem or what is wrong with this thing, here are 2 examples of 2 CDs tested on my LiteOn 166s and my new 52327s.

Anyone has a clue as to who manufactures these?

Planning on buying a new CD-RW but don't know which one sounds good. The prices are all the same, and so are the specs. Think ya'll can help me out and gimme a couple of suggestions?

I got some questions and a story to tell you all.
I bought an LG-8525B CD-RW drive at Bestbuy about two 2 weeks ago in Canada, I notice that the reading on rewritable CDs was terrible and that it would make a very loud vibration some times (not high speed reading or writing) but not all the time,that worries me as that could be a problem, so I exchanged it for another same model, now ...

Well, they finally cam in! So now I can share my results with everyone :D

Sadly, my LG 8525B drive died during a firmware update, so I'm stuck with only my Plextor Premium for testing. So here are my current results. More will be posted as I do more testing.

The discs being tested are the following:
