News of DVD Writers

I was told +R DVD disc are mostly for data and -R DVD disc are usually for movies, is that true?......if I just want to store data, does it matter if I use the -R or +R dvd disc? Thanks for your feedback in advance.

I just got a note that my PX-716SA shipped...so they appear to be out. Have most problems with the 716a been worked out with new firmware?

does anyone have a good comparison between this drive and an NEC 3500A burning to most 8x media?

Buffalo has released a new firmware for DVM-DM16FBS that allows DVD-R dual layer to be burned at 2x.
This drive is a rebadged PX-716A and you know what that means. Plextor should put an official firmware real soon.

The big issue is where to get DL -r media, but i leave it to your consideration...

I recently bought a NEC 3500a burner and today I noticed some strange thing happening: my system freezes for about 30 seconds, then "defreezes" during, let's say, another 30 seconds (I really didn't count the time), and after that it freezes again.
When it defreezes it is as if the drive is resetting, as I opened all my drive's bays and the one from the DVD closes (as when you have the bay opened ...

Quick Question.

Is it possible to burn a G05 at any less than 4X ?
RecordNow Max allows me to choose 2X, but it burns at 4X
Nero CD DVD Speed says "will burn at 4X - 12X With this recorder".
It's not a problem, I just wondered why!!!!!!

but then on that website link i noticed the second DVD writer on that page is the NEC ND3520 OEM Black, I was thinking is that a better version, Does it have all the features of the NEC ND3500A? but is it more improved?
