News of DVD Writers

Anyone know what the status is on the LightScribe drives? I read something awhile back that they should be arriving in September. Will a drive be available soon?

I just wanna share my experiance with you all. I was able to achieve something that I thought wasn't able to. With Italian Job's help i was able to do this and very very happy with the results. I burned almost 6 movies since then and ...

I have a new laptop with an NEC-6500A drive. I've already updated the firmware from rpc1.org to remove the rip lock and RPC1. Is there a utility to set booktype for DVD+R to DVD-ROM available for this drive? Or does the firmware for this drive even support that? I've been reading about setting the booktype on other NEC drives but can't find any reference to this model.

It's a NEC ND-3500A (on the sticker on the top of the drive it said ND-3500AG). Where can I download the newest firmware for this drive? I'd prefer official NEC releases, but if there are better, more stable firmware releases by someone else, that works too. Thanks.

Are there recent DVD writers that support MRW?

Just wondering if people have found this to be a good firmware upgrade...came out 3 wks ago.

I never changed from A104...thinking about it now as I have some 8x Memorex -Rs that are not seen as 8x by nero

Anyone have any info on the Optorite DD1601? It can not read any movies on DVD-R media that I had previously created with the Optorite DD0203.
