News of DVD Writers

I have heard that there is software available that enables a CD/RW to record a DVD.

Has anyone heard of it/used it and if so where is it available and how well does it perform?

Just visit a Taiwan Web-site and discover a new dual firmware for nu 8x writer. I am wonder whether this new firmware can be further upgrade to 8x, which had already been upgraded from nu 6x writer. Does anyone want to try and willing to share his result to us. Thanks.

I'm new to DVD-R and uses Nero Express with Pioneer DVR A06U
When I try to backup my LOTRTT(DVD moive) it said not enough space with my DVD disk. what is wrong? or what software should I use? please help!

Wow I'm ultra pissed right now. I have a plextor 708a. I bought these memorex dvd-r from office depot online. I usually buy dvd+r but I wanted to try the -r because one of my standalones doesn't support +r. Until today I didn't have any problems.

I've burned about 10 of these dvd-r's without a problem. I come across a coaster after dvd decrypter said it successfully completed but it didn't read the dvd after ...

I recently was shopping for Christmas gifts when I saw a computer store having a christmas special. I walked in to take a look around and I saw a dual LG 8x burner for around $200! I'll try to get the store name, but did LG truely already release their burner?? THe LG one I saw was the 4080 model. Strange...

Sounds great and first with both +,- x8,DVDRWx4 .
Now the question is how hackeble the drive is:)?1300>2500?Doubt it ,anyway,the livewarehouse got it for 136$,good price .

just recently this problem started. what happens is when i try to read any dvdrom it goes sooo slow. i tried RNM and dvd decrypter. what happens is it is always going down to 1x when reading and i couldnt figure it out. i then went to task manager or whatever and i ran it when this prob was happening.

i found a direct comparison. when the cpu usage went up to 90-100% the reading ...

I've seen a few dual format drives with 8x DVD+R writing capabilites. I was wondering if manufacturers will start producing drives that can burn 8x DVD-R, or is that technologically impossible?
