I created a slideshow of digital photos with NeroVision Express 2 (2.1.2.21). During the first part of the burning process (creating menus and transcoding streams) the progress meter stops but NeroVision hangs. The only way to stop the process and close the window is to use the Task Manager to End Task. My slideshow has seven titles each containing an average of 30 pictures.

Nero 6.x loops forever and must be killed by task manager when writing the directory of a DVD (just before finalizing the disc).

It happens when at least one of the files contains an ampersand "&" in its filename, e.g. "bla.blubb..avi".

My writer is a Plextor 712A and it happens with all Nero 6.x Versions and all DVD medias (I tested -R, +R and +RW). I'm using W2K Pro.

Are your Nero update downloads running extremely slow compared to past performance?

Up to version 6.3.1.20 the HD-Burn option (high density CD) was available even if your recorder didn't support it. Only when you actually came to burn did you get a message that your recorder doesn't support HD. Now this option doesn't exist at all. Since my burner doesn't support HD, I can't tell if it's a bug or a feature.

Are file name on CDRs uses Unicode ?
Or encoded in localized encoding method ?

My Windows version allow DBCS file name. (Big-5 Chinese) Thus the illegal characters /?*\ does sometimes get used. However, as I believe the file name are actually stored in Unicode on HD, there is no problem at all.

But, a lot of program is doing a quick check and will ban the use of those characters, Nero is one of ...

Since first acquiring Nero/InCD/etc. in June 2004, I have now accumulated over 1GB of files from the software and updates downloaded.
This is in addition to the actually installed software.

Which of the releases of each of the following are considered to be "stable"?

On my home computer, which has a DVD writable drive, Nero's Recode 2 installs properly and is available via Smart Start. However, on my laptop, which has a CD writable and can also play DVDs, Recode is not available. Admittedly, Recode is primarily for writing DVDs, but it secondarily provides for encoding DVDs to Nero Digital and writing to CDs. Is there a way to install Recode on my laptop?

I downloaded the Nero trial at the end of August, but only had one day to use it since it expired at the end of the month. Since then, I've reformatted my machine and want to try the trial for a bit longer so I can see if Nero is the solution I'm looking for.
