I bought a Sony Dru-830a the other day and after I installed it I can't seem to get it to read DVDs. Movies or data, however it will read CDs.

In order to test the efficiency of the so called "advanced" AutoStrategy of the Plextor PX-760A with it’s new 1.05 firmware, many people suggest to use low quality media and eveen real fakes.
I have the possibility to get easily the following 4 brands of « doubtfull quality » DVD's:

I just got back from seeing Stranger Then Fiction. I was hesitant to see it at first because I didn't think Will Ferral could do a good job in that kind of role. However I was VERY satisfied with his performance, and enjoyed the movie a great deal. This is deffinately a movie to take that special someone to, and not a bad movie to go to in general.

Just an FYI. I'm assuming it is not just me since I'm seeing consistent behavior across multiple machines and drives. Haven't tried it under Vista 32-bit yet:

Burning .ISOs via the "Burn Image ..." option in Nero 7.5.7.0 and 7.5.9.0 under Vista x64 RTM seems to result in deterministic corruption (always in the same place for a given ISO source file).

These burns will pass Nero verification, but some of the files will be corrupt ...

I'm a technoidiot, so I felt very, very impressed with myself today when I finally converted my old camcorder footage to digital files (using Plextor ConvertX hardware) and then used NeroVision to edit the digital files into a movie, ready to burn to DVD.

Except I get the message (during the transcoding phrase)

"Burn process failed! Would you like to create an error log?"

I've tried the following variants of my burn process without success: ...

Installed onto an IBM pSeries 232, O.S. Windows Server 2003, Std. Edition.
Latest firmware flashed on drive.
Latest Panasonic driver from BHA (meiudf.sys v4.0.8.0).
After formatting with DVDForm, if I open "My Computer", the drive is shown as "CD-ROM" instead of "DVD-RAM".
If I click on the drive, drag anything into it, I always obtain the same message: "Access denied".
Even the "refresh" option (F5) doesn't work.
O.S. compatibility problem?

Anyone worked out how to disable Nero Scout under MS Vista yet?

regsvr32 /u "%COMMONPROGRAMFILES%\Ahead\Lib\MediaLibraryNSE.dll"

doesn't work, it just gives an error message. Nero seem to have disabled access to the properties page, and I can't get the Options to open either. Looks like they are DETERMINED to force Nero Scout on us whether we want it or not. :(

Whenever I bring up Nero PhotoShow in Nero 7, I get the following warning: "Hardware acceleration is deactivated. Some capture devices may not work properly. You can activate hardware acceleration using the DirectX Diagnostic Tool" On other occasions I've gotten messages to go to Settings (in W2K), Display, and to turn on Hardware Acceleration there. There is no entry in Programs for DirectX or under MicroSoft or Windows or in Add/Remove Programs or under ATI ...

Really need some help with this. Ive created a slde show with various chapters and am receiving an error when trying to burn onto disk.

Its telling me that I am using the wrong type of disk - im using DVD+rw I thought this was the right thing to use.

Please help, im desperate to get this project burned
