G, I've used Made In Taiwan Verbatim CD-Rs here in India, and they have been Prodisc  . Sucky++

That's funny, because the Prodisc's I've found here (Intenso branded) have been quite good. Verbatim CMC's, though, have given me problems, especially the ones "Made in Mexico" (!!).

Weird :o . ANyhoo, for the same price, I get excellent Maxell Ritek discs, which I think are much better than CMC or Prodisc.

PrimeOn Inkjet printables, 52x (Mitsui)

Postby MediumRare on Mon Nov 07, 2005 6:10 pm

Time for my annual post to freshen up this thread.
I've pretty well stuck with Verbatim DLPro (or Super Azo whatever) the last while, in particular the printable ones (I love my Canon i865- better than LiteScribe anyday). They seem to be coming from India these days.

However, the "hub printable" versions still have some structure in the inner region (blanked-out text which is non-printable) - see the attached scan. So I tried some of these PrimeOn's, which are still lighter towards the middle, but don't have any writing showing.

Code: Select all
LiteOn LTR 48246S
Firmware SS0E...........PrimeOn printable / MS 80min 52x........48X

Here the ATIP from SmartBurn 3.1.8:
Code: Select all
        Drive Type = CD-RW
         Disc Type = CDR
          Material = Phthalocyanine
           Lead In = 97:27:58
          Lead Out = 79:59:74
  Nominal Capacity = 702.83MB
Manufacturer Maybe = Mitsui Chemicals, Inc.
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 48X (Write)

They're fine. Burn at my max. speed without problems, CD-Speed all green. KProbe 1.1.29 C1 max/mean: 11 /1.01 (Verbatim's are better, but this is still good). They print well too, but don't like fingerprints, though. I had some C2's on my second scan until I wiped them off.

The dye is Mitsui, but fom what others have said, these are probably made by MAME. There's no country of origin mentioned.

OK, you talked me into it. I'll breathe some more life into this thread. 8)

I'm about to order another 100 CD-Rs. Are these Taiyo Yudens still the best?
