Memoright, a Taiwan-based developer of SSDs (Solid-State Drives) and high-end storage devices, independently developed the QuadLife Series MLC-based solid state drive with its firmware R&D team. The QuadLife Series includes the Endurance Write firmware architecture developed by Memoright to extend the life of SSDs by more than four times compared with typical MLC-based SSDs. With four times the average life span and cost effectiveness, the QuadLife Series serves as an ideal solution for cloud computing, business servers and similar industrial PC applications.
Memoright QuadLife Series SSDs are available in capacities of 265GB and 530GB in a 2.5-inch form factor and 220GB in a 1.8-inch form factor. All are equipped with our internally developed Endurance Write firmware architecture with exclusively patented technology and algorithms to take full advantage of flash memory write blocks, which compared with the 3,000-5,000 PE cycles typical of ordinary MLC SSDs increases dramatically to more than 20,000 times. In other words, the effective life of QuadLife Series SSDs has been extended to four times or more of ordinary MLC-based SSDs.
Memoright QuadLife Series SSDs support the Memoright-patented InDrive UPS (Uninterruptible power supply), which in emergency power outage situations maintains the SSD internal power and stores data in flash memory to avoid the occurrence of abnormal bad blocks, not only ensuring that valuable information is saved, but also significantly extending the length of SSD use.
Samsung Electronics America, Inc., a market leader and award-winning innovator in consumer electronics, announced today that for a limited time over this Black Friday weekend, its new 250 gigabyte (GB) SSD 840 solid-state drives will be available at a special discounted price and will include a download of the new “Far Cry 3” video game from Ubisoft Entertainment at no additional cost.
From Black Friday through Cyber Monday (11/22 – 11/26), or while supplies last, consumers will be able to purchase the 250 GB version of Samsung’s SSD 840 drive for just $169.99, $20 less than the usual minimum advertised price. They also will receive a code enabling them to download the full PC version of “Far Cry 3,” normally priced at $59.99.
Designed for cost-conscious consumers who still want outstanding performance, Samsung’s new SSD 840 drives offer a SATA 6.0 gigabit-per-second (Gb/s) interface and triple-core MDX controller, while using economical triple-level cell (TLC) Toggle DDR2 flash memory. They offer blazingly fast random read speeds – up to 97,000 input-output operations per second (IOPS) and sequential read speeds up to 530 megabytes-per-second (MB/s) – as well as longer battery life, cooler, quieter operation and improved reliability compared with conventional hard disk drives.
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world leader in advanced memory technology, today announced a next-generation 64GB embedded multimedia card (eMMC) using 10 nanometer (nm)-class process technology. The new 64Gb NAND memory went into production late last month.
Myungho Kim, vice president of Memory marketing, Device Solutions, Samsung Electronics noted, "The new high-speed, small form factor eMMC reinforces Samsung's technology leadership in storage memory solutions. We look forward to expanding our line-up of embedded memory solutions in conjunction with the new chip's design, in pursuing a system-level adoption of application processors and other key components that form the foundation for the most advanced mobile platforms. This will allow us to better attend to time-to-market demands enabling the design of more convenient features for next-generation mobile applications."
Imation Corp., a global scalable storage and data security company, today announced beta availability of its IronKey Workspace, certified for deployment of Windows To Go. The IronKey Workspace lets organizations outfit mobile professionals with a secure, fast USB platform to run Windows To Go from a USB stick on multiple compatible PCs, an ideal solution for teleworkers, contractors, and those implementing BYOD (“bring your own device”) strategies.
The IronKey Workspace is certified for deployment of Windows To Go, a feature of Windows 8 that lets enterprise users boot a full version of Windows 8 from an external USB drive on compatible host PCs.
“The traditional and static arrangement of the software instance of the user’s workspace bound to a single hardware device no longer fits the personal computing requirements of a growing population of workers and, for that matter, their employers; breaking this software-to-hardware linkage is essential,” said Michael Suby, Stratecast’s vice president of Research at Frost & Sullivan. “PC on a Stick addresses this need by infusing complete and secure workspace portability into the realm of personal computing.”
