Nero, leaders in digital media technology, unveiled details today of a major worldwide update to its premier Nero 7 digital media software suite. This latest version includes more than 21 applications, with features that enable the efficient transfer of audio and video files to mobile phones and the streaming of live TV and other content to a Windows Media Center Edition PC or Xbox 360(TM). The update will be available at retail stores and online (www.nero.com) in September 2006. Current Nero 7 customers will be able to download the update from the website free of charge at that time.According to sources at Nero, this update should be available for download near the middle of September. Canadian software company Corel Corp. said Monday it is buying InterVideo Inc., a provider of multimedia DVD software, for about $196 million in cash.While transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of this year. More information can be found here. Add a comment
The acquisition values InterVideo at $13 per share. The company's stock closed at $9.60 on Friday, and is up $3.04, or 31.7 percent, to $12.64 in morning trading on the Nasdaq.
Corel said the acquisition gives it access to Asian markets, including China, Taiwan and Japan, that the company had been eyeing for expansion.
