QNAP Launches QM2-2P2G2T PCIe Card With M.2 SSD Slots And 2.5GbE Connectivity
QNAP Systems, Inc., a leading computing, networking and storage solution innovator, today launched the QM2-2P2G2T PCIe card which adds M.2 SSD slots and 2.5GbE connectivity to a QNAP NAS or PC/server/workstation. NAS users can benefit from 2.5GbE connectivity, improve overall NAS performance by enabling SSD caching, and upgrade NAS storage capacity without occupying any 3.5-inch drive bays. PC/server/workstation users can increase their storage capacity while also boosting overall IOPS performance by offloading bandwidth-demanding tasks to SSDs to minimize application loading times.

“The QM2-2P2G2T represents QNAP’s commitment to providing comprehensive and budget-friendly solutions not only for QNAP NAS users but also for PC/workstation users. The QM2-2P2G2T is ideal for use in homes and workplaces to handle resource-demanding applications, such as inline video-editing and gaming, and is especially suited for Windows Server,” said Stanley Huang, Product Manager of QNAP.

Today, CDRLabs brings you a review of Samsung's first DRAM-less SSD, the 980. Designed for everyday PC users, gamers and content creators, this compact, M.2 form factor drive is powered by Samsung's "Pablo" controller and is available with up to 1TB of their latest 6th generation V-NAND flash. To overcome the performance drawbacks typically associated with DRAM-less SSDs, the 980 utilizes Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology, which lets the drive use a small portion of the host system's memory as its own. The 980 is also equipped with Samsung's newly upgraded Intelligent TurboWrite 2.0 technology as well as an ultra-fast PCIe Gen3 x4 interface to provide NVMe performance with six times the speed of SATA SSDs.
