Samsung Launches 845DC PRO Series SSDs For Servers And Data Centers
Samsung Electronics America Inc., the world leader in advanced memory technology, has introduced the Samsung 845DC PRO series of Solid State Drives (SSD), the second in Samsung’s series of enterprise SSDs aimed specifically for server and data center use.

The 845DC PRO provides an optimized solution for write-intensive applications with heavier workloads, such as Server Virtualization, Email, Database and Application Servers. The 845DC PRO drives deliver best-in-class sustained performance and reinforced random write performance of up to 51,000 IOPS, as well as a sequential write speed of up to 460 megabytes per second (MB/s).
The drives carry significantly enhanced endurance through Samsung’s industry-first 3D V-NAND technology, which uses vertically stacked cell layers to break through the current scaling limit for existing NAND flash technology. They are built with Samsung’s exceptional performance and industry-leading reliability, and are capable of handling 10 full capacity drive writes per day. The Samsung 845DC PRO has a five-year limited warranty.

WD, a Western Digital company, and world leader in storage solutions, today announced the expansion of its award-winning WD Red line of SATA hard drives for home and small office NAS (network attached storage) systems with the release of a 5 TB and first-to-market 6 TB capacity for NAS-specific storage and the introduction of WD Red Pro hard drives that address the medium to large business NAS market. Compatibility-tested with top NAS system manufacturers and optimized for power and performance, WD Red 3.5-inch hard drives are now shipping in 1 TB to 6 TB capacities; and the new WD Red Pro 3.5-inch hard drives are available in 2 TB to 4 TB capacities.

Today, CDRLabs brings you a review of WD's new personal cloud solution, the My Cloud Mirror. Like the original My Cloud, this easy to use NAS device is designed with consumers in mind. The Mirror provides secure file sharing and flexible backup options for both Macs and PCs and can be accessed from anywhere using WD's desktop and mobile apps. Instead of a single hard drive though, the Mirror is equipped with two and is configured for RAID 1 (mirrored) mode by default, giving you double the data protection. The NAS also provides integrated file, FTP, backup and P2P download servers and can be further customized using third party apps like Joomla, WordPress, IceCast and more.
