Toshiba Introduces Canvio Home Backup & Share NAS
Toshiba’s Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today introduced the Canvio Home Backup & Share, a simple and powerful network attached storage hub for the connected home that brings together islands of content and allows easy access to digital assets. Available in capacities up to 3TB, the Canvio Home enables the availability of content on a contextual basis, flowing from device to device, screen to screen and location to location.

“Imagine having access to all your important digital assets—around your home, around the world, or through your portable devices, and you’ll know what it’s like with the new Canvio Home, an easier, safer way to backup, share, stream, and store your files and multimedia,” said Maciek Brzeski, vice president of product marketing and development, Branded Storage Products, Toshiba Digital Products Division. “It is so much more than just a box to drop your files in. This is safe, private storage that you can share.”
CDRLabs has taken an in depth look at Western Digital's new dual drive, the Black². Taking the concept of pairing an SSD with a traditional hard drive to the next level, this innovative storage solution fuses the two into a single device. The SSD portion of the Black² is intended as a boot drive and provides 120GB of 20nm NAND flash for your operating system, games and applications. Larger, infrequently accessed files can then be migrated to the 1 TB hard drive to increase the overall endurance and mileage of the SSD. Best of all, the Black² connects through a single cable and fits into a conventional 9.5 mm slot, making it an ideal upgrade for notebooks and all-in-one PCs.
