SanDisk Announces 256GB Extreme Pro CompactFlash Memory Card Optimized For 4K Video Recording
SanDisk Corporation, a global leader in flash memory storage solutions, today announced the availability of the 256GB SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash memory card, the world’s first high-capacity, high-performance CompactFlash card with the latest Video Performance Guarantee (VPG-65) specification. Also being announced by SanDisk today are faster speeds across all other capacities of the SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash line of memory cards.
"SanDisk has been at the forefront with storage solutions that enable the broader adoption of new video capture technologies. We always design our SanDisk Extreme Pro cards with professional photographers and videographers in mind," said Susan Park, director, mobile and imaging worldwide retail product marketing, SanDisk. "Cinema-quality 4K video capture demands tremendous performance and capacity, which is exactly what we have delivered with the new 256GB SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash card."
The card delivers minimum sustained write speeds of 65MB/s, optimized to capture 4K and Full HD video. The 256GB SanDisk Extreme Pro CompactFlash card has industry-leading transfer speeds of up to 160MB/s, designed to dramatically improve workflow efficiencies, and delivers fast shot speeds of up to 140MB/s for advanced functions such as fast action and continuous burst mode shots.
CDRLabs kicks off the week with a review of Samsung's 750GB SSD 840 EVO Series solid state drive. The drive is powered by Samsung's new MEX controller and is available with up to 1TB of their second generation 3-bit/cell MLC NAND. To overcome the slow write speeds typically associated with this type of NAND, Samsung has increased the size the DRAM cache and implemented an innovative write acceleration algorithm called TurboWrite, which creates a high-performance write buffer in the SSD. The SSD 840 EVO is also the first drive to support Samsung's new RAPID technology. By using free PC memory as a cache, RAPID can push the performance of the SSD beyond the limits of the current SATA specification.

Lexar, a leading global brand of flash memory products, today announced the 64GB Lexar High-Performance microSDXC UHS-I card with read transfer speeds up to 600x (90MB per second).
