Toshiba Announces New Family Of 7,200 RPM 2.5-Inch SATA Hard Drives

This represents the industry’s first broad line of 7,200 RPM 2.5-inch models optimized for demanding performance, power consumption, and durability requirements across a wide range of high-performance and business-critical applications.

MKxx61GSY: Available in 160 to 640GB capacities, the MKxx61GSY is targeted at high-end notebook PCs, gaming laptops, and mobile workstations as well as all-in-one and slimline desktop PCs. Using Toshiba’s extensive experience in the mobile computing market, the MKxx61GSY offers greater power efficiency and durability over 3.5-inch drives.

High-Durability MKxx61GSYB: Leveraging the MKxx61GSY platform, the MKxx61GSYB series is a high-durability model targeted at demanding 24x7 applications such as network routers, network switches, blade servers, and point-of-sale terminals in a full range of capacities from 80 to 500GB. The MKxx61GSYB offers nearline storage levels of reliability and performance in a small form factor design.

Self-Encrypting Drive (SED): The third member of the family, designed to the TCG Opal Specification, provides industry-standard, government-grade security features for organizations wanting to secure data at rest for compliance with data privacy policies. The SED drives will be available after launch of the GSY and GSYB series models.

ADATA Launches N909 Flash Drive With eSATA+USB 2.0 Combo Interface

ADATA Technology, the world leader in DRAM modules and flash memory products, launched the industry first ever USB flash drive N909 featuring with the latest eSATA+USB 2.0 COMBO interface, designed to outperform conventional USB 2.0 USB drives with enhanced data transfer speed. The N909 adopts the 4-channnel technology that sets to boost data transfer rates up to 90MB/s and 50 MB/s in sequential read/write performance respectively.

N909 is the first innovative storage device equipped with eSATA+USB 2.0 combo interface with a single connector. Seagate 2TB FreeAgent GoFlex Desk External Hard Drive

CDRLabs has taken an in depth look at Seagate's new external hard drive, the FreeAgent GoFlex Desk. This high-capacity desktop hard drive takes full advantage of Seagate's new GoFlex technology. While the drive supports USB 2.0 out of the box, its file transfer performance can be increased by up to 10x by swapping the GoFlex adapter base for one that supports USB 3.0 or FireWire 800. The GoFlex Desk drive also sports an illuminated capacity gauge and comes pre-loaded with easy-to-use backup software with encryption for both the Mac and PC.

Corsair Announces 40GB, 80GB And 160GB Force Series SSDs
