Kingston Digital Ships Class 10 MicroSDHC Card

The high-capacity card complies with the SD™ Association Specification 3.00 to meet Class 10 requirements. The 16GB microSDHC card has a minimum data transfer rate of 10MB/sec. and ships either as a stand-alone microSDHC card or with adapters.

"With the new speed class, host devices such as high-definition cameras or the latest smartphones are being designed to optimize their write performance to take advantage of the more responsive memory card speeds," said Wendy Lecot, Flash card business manager, Kingston®. "Now that the Class 10 card specification is five times faster than a Class 2 card, users will see swifter copying and transferring of photos, music, videos and e-books when using a multi-format card reader such as the Kingston Media Reader or MobileLiteG2 with a PC.

Synology® Inc. today launched DiskStation DS710+, a 2-bay NAS server delivering high-performance, scalability, and business applications for small and medium businesses.

"In Synology's lab, under RAID 1 configuration in a Window environment, the reading speed of Synology DS710+ reached 110+ MB/sec while writing 100+ MB/sec." The Synology DS710+ retains a high throughput when handling requests from multiple Windows clients simultaneously. The web server responsiveness rate, takes only 58.28 seconds to handle 1,000 simultaneous requests.

LaCie Announces First Mobile Hard Drive With Power eSATA Interface

LaCie today announced the Rugged eSATA, the first mobile external hard drive on the market that features a Power eSATA interface. The Rugged eSATA offers major storage capacity and a cost advantage over eSATA SSD solutions, and is one of the only portable, bus-powered eSATA solutions on the market.

Bus-powered when connected to a USB-eSATA combo port, the LaCie Rugged eSATA combines superior transfer speeds of up to 90MB/s in a truly mobile form. The USB-eSATA combo interface, also known as Power eSATA, features a slightly different connector than eSATA and is frequently found on late-model laptops. The drive is also compatible with standard eSATA ports when the included USB power-sharing cable is connected.
