CDRLabs kicks off the New Year with a review of Kingston's latest USB 3.0 flash drive, the DataTraveler HyperX 3.0. Designed with enthusiasts and gamers in mind, the DataTraveler HyperX 3.0 is Kingston's fastest and largest capacity USB flash drive to date. Available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities, the drive uses an 8-channel controller to deliver up to 225MB/s read and 135MB/s write speeds. CDRLabs kicks off the week with a review of Patriot's 240GB Pyro SE solid state drive. This new and improved version of the Pyro is powered by the same SandForce SF-2281 controller and shares many of the same features including a SATA 6Gb/s interface and native TRIM support. However, instead of asynchronous NAND, the Pyro SE is equipped with 25nm synchronous MLC NAND to deliver up to 550MB/s read and 520 MB/s write speeds as well as a maximum of 85,000 IOPS.

CDRLabs has taken an in depth look at LG's 12x Blu-ray Disc rewriter, the BH12LS38. This new Super Multi Blue drive is capable of 12x BD-R, 12x BD-R DL and 2x BD-RE writing speeds and a maximum BD-ROM read speed of 10x. The BH12LS38 is also backwards compatible with all major CD and DVD formats offers features like HP's LightScribe Direct Disc Labeling system and CyberLink's Blu-ray Disc Suite, which includes software capable of playing back Blu-ray movies in 3D.
