anyone out there have a Cendyne 48x12x48 internal(LITEON version)
or a Buslink 48x12x48x ( LITEON )running on Win98?
I've seen on the back of the Cendyne box the requirements are as follows,
( Win98se,me,nt, etc. and cpu recommended PENT 400MHZ or faster)
NOTE: there isn't a / mark between the 98 and SE so does that mean it wouldn't work with Win98? planning to use A Compaq AMD 475mhz,and Win98 Thanks!

I have a day off tomorrow & I am planning to pick up a 48X Cd burner from one of the local computers shop tomorrow.

I have finally ruled down the following 4 choices:

(1) LG 48X
(2) Lite On 48X
(3) Aopen 48X
(4) BENQ 48X

If I don't plan to burn games, just want to burn data (maintly software appz or ISO) and burn music / audio Cd, may I know ...

I am having some issues with my plextor plexwriter 48x PX-W4824TA.
it does not write properly
before deciding that it is faulty, i would like to check if the drive is actually bad.

Who makes this drive, and are there any reviews on it? I havent found much on the net, which tells me its a newer model and/or obscure re-brand.

the jumper on the drive is set to (secondary) master
i have another CDRW thats set to (secondary)slave
i have a Via chipset
800mhz duron
this happens with audio or data
DMA is enabled
DAE works with this drive at reg. speeds
it reads everything

this is the second liteon drive that does this so i think maybe its something on the ...

last week i got a LG GCE-8320B (Slave, secondary) and burns without problems.
But...
Win2k SP3 needs approximatly 59 seconds to notice that the GCE can work in DMA-Mode :(.
if I deactivate the option "DMA, if available" (=> start with PIO) the bootup takes 59sec less than with DMA!
the DVD-Rom (another LG) on primary Slave just needs 2 seconds to check that its UDMA. ...

Hoping bestbuy has another deal on cd wallets like they did a week or two ago.

when I use either Nero 5.5 or NTI cd-maker 2000 plus my writer seems to stall when writing leads/outs in Nero or table of contents in cd-maker. anyone one have any insight?
