for some reason i movie that i have was captured in avi format..what is the correct format for a dvd movie?

I have a Canon HF-10. The Pixela software that came with the camera is a real pain and inconsistent to use. I am wondering if I can record directly to a burner, such as a Sony VRD MC6, and still get a HD product. Or, any suggestions on how to burn hd movies to a computer using the Pixela software.

i connected my dvd recorder player so i can capture the soundtrack to my computer so i can add it to a cd but in the process my speakers developed hum.how can i fix this?is it a grounding problem??thanks

I'm using Nero 8 to encode video from an HDV camcorder. I want to use a format with best possible quality but it must follow standards so that it can easily be played in the future.

Just wanted to check with the pros here what is a good program if I need to burn a DVD ( Video not data disk) with index buttons so you can skip right to the points of intetest.

I now use Ulead VideoStudio 8 and nero express 8.

I will be using the ConvertX box from Plextor to change the VHS 8 MM tapes to a DVD format.

I'm using Premier CS3 (i have 8.0 too).

Now I'm ripping VHS into premier and using the 4:3 option obviously. Even then, I still get the blasted letterbox around my finished capture. The post-crop option doesn't even cure it. I've been fighting with it for a while now but cant seem to kick it.

Anyone else seen this problem?

Here we are after having brought an hour of old super 8's to a VCR cassette and then over to a DVD+R. But when I try to open the files I found that Movie Maker doesn't like the BUP, VOB or IFO files that I found under TS-title.
Anybody knows anything about this problem. Is there a program for conversion of these files. I'd be very glad for any tip.
