DVD-R/W, DVD+R/RW, DVD-RAM

Well I have to say I've burned a lot of Fujis and never had a bad one (fingers crossed) since I just bought a 100 spindle which has so far yielded excellent results.

This would mean that I can use KProbe to scan my discs. Which is better: K-Probe or CD/DVD Speed?

Kprobe is good for scanning with a DVD-writer but not for DVD-ROM.

Same with CDSpeed Quality-test. If the CDSpeed Transfer-rate-test runs fine it´s a good sign

Nope strictly made in Taiwan that's why I only buy their +Rs. I buy TY & Verbatim DataLife Plus -Rs from blankmedia.ca as well as their +Rs for that matter.

I wouldn't mind trying a couple of the Fujifilm ones. Maybe I'll buy a 10 pack to try out.

I would buy Verbatim DataLife Plus if I could find them. No one seems to sell them where I live.

There really is no such thing as Datalifeplus anymore, in the US at least (unless you count the unbranded bulk media available online). You might find some of the Verbatim 8x meda in jewel cases that use that brand name, but none of the 8x retail spindles, or any of the 16x media (jewel cases or spindles).

Sony's (made in Austria) 16x media has some quality fluctutations.
But the 8x stuff should be good.
However european folks watch out because sony is also packageing a lot of RITEK media for the moment.
(Made in AUstria is safe !) Made in taiwan can mean SONY (DAXON) or RITEK (RITEK)

My Sony 8x -R/+R are made in Austria. But have Sony really a factory in Austria? The only media-.factory I know is 3A (I think MMM had a factory in the past, too)

Sony discs "made in Austria" ,made by "KDG Mediatech AG" .
Sony have reduced media production in France during 2004 ,transfered it in Asia for cost reason.Maybe there is a small supplementary production in Austria in case of problem of Asia products availability.

About Fuji and TY DVD+R

http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=109313

Generally, not problem in European batches

The relation with KDG Mediatech AG is very narrow.
For instance. KDG Mediatech AG is the companny who owns Datarius brands who uses SONY drives for there analyzers.
Another example are the European PS2 DVD disc's.

Now about the KDG plant it is co-owned by a small part by sony it seems.
So if sony says we are makeing the media in our austria plant. Then there telling you a half truth.

Each known media brand ,never tell about manafacturing co-operations for each product-It's very common in international trade-Customer also don't mind this, except to be satisfy about final product -For that reason "Made in " is just an info, depends on reputation of the brand

Sony Austrian made in discs are excellent .
8x DVD+R able burn 12x without problem .Asia made in discs (most of them made by Daxxon ),not able do that.
